Devin Nunes, R-Calif., chairman of the committee, recused himself from the panel's Russian Federation investigations after the House Committee on Ethics announced it was investigating Nunes for disclosing classified information. Cummings has been pushing Chaffetz to issue a subpoena demanding the documents. The House and Democratic Gov. Jim Justice have disagreed over taxes and budget cuts for the fiscal year that begins July 1. The governors' letter says CHIP has dramatically reduced the child uninsured rate, from 15 percent in 1997 when the law was created to less than 5 percent today. (more...)

We will update tomorrow. The state school boards association has noticed the trend as well. Peter Smith, who was vying for one of the two open seats, got 1,191 votes. Schenectady Superintendent Larry Spring has called this year's budget a "watershed" as "years and years and years of cutting" has given way to serious investments in student services and the first substantial tax cut in years. Bill supporters said sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with the nation's immigration laws enable immigrants to commit crimes before they're deported. Instead, a panel of House lawmakers considered HB 2899, but they have yet to vote on the measure since an April 20 hearing.
