Nationally, home price growth also slowed slightly, from 5.7 percent to 5.4 percent year over year, according to the Indices' 20-city composite. On a sequential basis, unadjusted, the National Index logged a gain of 0.2% over January. Economists were expecting prices to increase by 0.8% in February, and by 5.5% yoy, according to Bloomberg. Global oil prices slumped on Monday after rising tensions between the world's largest crude producers derailed plans to tackle the market's crippling oversupply by freezing oil production levels. "From $26 the oil price rose to $40 and by this year we hope that it will be around $50 a barrel". Sixteen nations - representing about half the world's oil output - gathered in the Qatari capital on April 17 in a bid to stabilize the global market. (more...)

Server products and cloud services revenue increased 5% in constant currency, driven by double-digit growth on the cloud subscription side. Revenue in Microsoft's Intelligent Cloud segment, meanwhile, grew 3 per cent (up 8 per cent in constant currency) to US$6.1 billion, with Microsoft stating Azure revenue grew 120 per cent in constant currency. Last month, the U.N. Security Council passed the toughest sanctions yet against North Korea as punishment for its January nuclear test and a long-range rocket launch in February. Mr Trump has suggested that Japan and South Korea should have nuclear weapons to protect themselves from the rogue state. Saudi deputy crown prince Mohamed bin Salman had insisted before the talks that the world's top producer would not accept a freeze in production without Iran's participation. "What is clear coming out of this is that OPEC would no longer be the main driver of oil prices", Lee told AFP. A late recovery in the oil price and metals gave a boost to commodity stocks. (more...)
