His long-trusted lieutenant, CEO Philippe Dauman, will add executive chairman to his title. The vote was 10-to-1, according to a person familiar with the matter, with Vice Chairman Shari Redstoneas the sole dissenter. But in recent months he has faded from view, and a lawsuit by a former girlfriend has challenged his mental competence. On Wednesday, after Politico reported Paul was dropping out of the race, he affirmed his exit in a video he posted on Twitter. Santorum was unable to repeat the feat this time around. What's unusual about that high this year, though, is it's essentially the same as the sales peak Apple hit last year after the iPhone 6 and 6s were announced: 74.5 million iPhones. Apple's shares were down 2.7% in after hours trading at $97.28. Shares fell to US$93.42, knocking off more than US$36 billion from Apple's market value of about US$554 billion . (more...)

Past year in November Google made an announcement today that it has released Smart Reply, for its Gmail users, a machine learning program built into its Inbox by Gmail apps which will send automated email responses on your behalf. The data shows it is normal, since Android has more than one billion users and users have been spending more and more time on their smartphones. (more...)

The city switched from Detroit's water system in 2014 while under state emergency management and began drawing from the Flint River to save money, but the water wasn't properly treated. The state's environment department approved the switch even though the city's treatment plant was not able to produce water that met state and federal standards. (more...)

The first movie in the franchise earned $26 million in China during its entire run in 2008. Forbes notes, however, that if Kung Fu Panda 3 fails to meet box office expectations then Hollywood might have "lost its competitive edge in the world's most strategically important box office territory".
