Detroit Lions vs Minnesota Vikings

Vikings safety Harrison Smith stares down Lions QB Matthew Stafford in a game in Minnesota last season

There has to be a human being somewhere in the world that can regularly hit makeable field goals for the Minnesota Vikings.

But this chapter, a 14-7 defeat at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, appeared to have come with a macabre twist.

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook left Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions after falling to the ground suddenly during a run. It was a triumph over adversity for the Lions, who were without impact rookies Jarrad Davis or Kenny Golladay, and suffered a slew of other injuries throughout the game. His numbers on the game were 13 for 66 yards and a touchdown, plus one catch for eight yards on three targets-all in a little over two quarters of play. The Vikings need Cook back as soon as possible, because he is the engine that makes the offense go.

Lions DE Cornelius Washington, on Zettel going unblocked on the goal line: "I was like, 'Boy I hope he sees this doggone eat call right here.' The whole line just (moved out of the way), and I'm like, 'Lord, Zettel, please just run.' And he did". "Dalvin will have a great career".

The Vikings' offense has been fantastic at home this season, but it couldn't muster much against the injury-plagued Detroit defense. The rest of the game delivered plenty of bile, too. He wasn't touched. Cook immediately dropped the football and went down.

"There was a miscommunication there", Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. What is Murray's value if Cook is forced to miss time?

The injury occurred when Cook took a handoff from quarterback Case Keenum up the middle of the field, gaining 10 yards. His ability to run between, behind, and around his tackles allowed the Lions to control field position and the clock.

"We are proud of our players, coaches and staff for the important role they play in our community, and we fully support their constitutional right to respectfully and peacefully express their beliefs", Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf said in a statement. "We have to look at the film and correct where we messed up, and definitely have to win the turnover battle". Detroit registered a total of 14 turnovers, 10 interceptions and four fumble recoveries.

German Election: Anti-AfD Protests Erupt In Berlin
The unprecedented victory of the AfD and its presence in the German parliament will undoubtedly have important implications. Schulz's SPD was down to 20.5 percent, but still managed to remain the second party after the conservatives.

A second-round pick and the Vikings first pick in 2017, out of Florida State Cook won the starting running back job over free agent signee Latavius Murray.

"Dalvin's a really explosive player", Zimmer said. Through the first quarter of the season, Zettel has done just that.

"I got fooled", said Keenum, who couldn't convert on a throw on fourth and long.

"They're making some plays on the ball". The Vikings (2-2) played their third straight game without starter Sam Bradford.

It was a familiar lament in another Lions loss filled with agonizing moments.

The image of Cook clutching his knee was somewhat reminiscent of Bridgewater suffering a torn ACL in his left knee during a preseason practice in August 2016, which came after he had led the Vikings to their first division title since 2009.
