Mercedes-AMG Project One Is An Outrageous $2.53 Million Hybrid Hypercar

Its 1.6-litre V6, the electrically-boosted turbocharger, the additional electric motors on the crank and front axle plus the associated battery cells and control systems are claimed as being one-step removed from the motor generator units powering Mercedes' recent F1 domination.

As for the electric motors, one is integrated into the turbo, another sits on the petrol engine and the remaining two are mounted on the front axle to complete the all-wheel-drive system.

AMG says the engine can easily reach speeds of 11,000 rpm, though remains significantly below the F1 engine speed limit due to the use of publicly available high octane fuel rather than actual race fuel. The engine is comprised of four electric motors, along with a turbocharged 1.6-liter, V6 gas engine, that can hit a top speed exceeding 218 m.p.h.

The lack of the Formula 1 racing fuel means the hypercar still remains below the speed limits of standard Formula 1 auto.

"The hypercar is the most ambitious project we have every undertaken".

Sharing the Frankfurt limelight with the Concept ONE - albeit slightly overshadowed by the hypercar - is the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQA, which features electric motors at the front and rear to achieve a system output of over 200kW.

The fact it's a plug-in hybrid means despite all that power, you can pop to the shops or drop the kids off on silent, pure electric, zero-emission power for 15 miles.

Only 275 units of the Mercedes-AMG Project One is set to be manufactured. In 40 years I have never witnessed as much hype at Mercedes as there was with this vehicle.

The series: Green Bay holds a 10-7 series edge in the regular season . "Today, they made one or two more plays more than us". Rodgers didn't have his best game , but he was able to draw Seattle offsides repeatedly with some excellent hard counts.

Interestingly enough, the Project ONE can operate in silence as an EV, but that will in effect turn your hypercar into the world's most expensive front-wheel drive vehicle.

As we mentioned, the engine is a 1.6-litre V6 with a "split turbo" that is created to keep the hot turbine away from the actual compressor.

It's a stat we're dining out on a little, because Mercedes-AMG does look to be sandbagging a little on the performance details: it looks like there's still plenty to reveal.

"At the same time, Project One provides an outlook on how AMG will define driving performance in the future". To be more specific, this isn't just derived from Lewis Hamilton's Silver Arrow F1 auto, it's actually built around it using the same 1.6-litre V6 Hybrid system to produce over 1000 bhp. "As we said in the past, as soon as AMG steps into a new segment we have a very clear expectation", said Moers.

As I found out in my interview with Andy Cowell, managing director of Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, F1 is as much about efficiency as power - and it looks like Mercedes is taking that thinking to the road.

The show vehicle is an extraordinary piece of automotive design.

"With this sort of exclusivity comes the reality that it will be built in limited numbers".
