Under Center Podcast: Bears can't complete comeback, fall to Falcons

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears lost wide receiver Cameron Meredith for the season.

The game was ultimately decided in the final seconds when the Bears, down 23-17, faced a 4th and Goal on Atlanta's five-yard line with eight seconds to play. Cohen also returned three punts for 45 yards.

Cohen, on his breakaway run, appeared bottled up in the backfield before reversing field, breaking a tackle and taking off on a 46-yard run in the 23-17 Chicago loss. He finished with 158 all-purpose yards, which marked the most by a Bears rookie in his debut.

The Atlanta Falcons have to move past the Super Bowl loss a year ago to New England. The Falcons worked to develop Campbell as a pass-rusher this offseason, and while he didn't record any sacks against the Bears, there were several plays where he generated pressure. However, the Bears' passing game frequently looked tepid as Glennon snapped a slew of safe, dink-and-dunk passes rather than stretching the field.

General manager Ryan Pace and coach John Fox are right.

IT Movie Review - Honest Reviews with Kim Holcomb
In fact, "It" mines its scares nearly too seriously for a movie about a demonic clown stalking the children of a New England town. This was something that was a leap, a character that is completely different to who I am and how I speak, how I move, how I look.

On second down, running back Jordan Howard failed to haul in a pass that was slightly behind him along the sideline at the 1-yard line.

"We weren't surprised that it was going to come down to be close, and we talked about that a lot as a team", Quinn said. But if they want to win games, the defense has to be almost ideal - it can't give up 88-yard touchdowns to tight ends and it must start taking the ball away. "The particular call we played was not the call that we had called". We just got in there and got back to work.

"I thought he did a hell of a job for us; put us in position to win", tight end Zach Miller said. In our case, we had our quarterback's first time in the offense. "You know, I want everybody to stay healthy though, let's make that fact very clear". "This is the 2017 Falcons football team". He didn't have an Alshon Jeffery or Kevin White to target in the corner of the end zone. He was going to be a high pick and I think the way it was taken by the media kind of chumped it up and made it seem worse than it was because in the end all they gave up was a third-round pick for Mitchell Trubisky.

White, selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, was playing in just his fifth career game after dealing with various injuries early in his career.

This was a legitimate effort from start to finish by the Bears so expect them to be more competitive than many expected.
