Basketball blockbuster: Kyrie Irving dealt to Celtics

Isaiah Thomas

Originally, the Celtics had sent Thomas, Jae Crowder, 2016 first-round pick Ante Žižić and next year's first-round pick (from Brooklyn) to the Cavaliers for Irving.

On the flip side, there are still fans out there that had a reasonable approach to the trade, including twitter user Tony Hartman who posted a video of a Kyrie Irving Cavs jersey with a "Thank You" note on top of it.

The former Celtics guard had a physical Friday, at which point the Cavs reportedly were weighing their options in completing the trade with Boston.

"It's a very sensitive situation", one source involved in the process told ESPN.

"The Cavaliers' stance could trigger a standoff between Cleveland and Boston officials, forcing both organizations to weigh the consequences of letting the blockbuster trade implode".

How's that going to play out in the locker room?

Without his support, the GOP stands a chance - if somewhat unlikely - of losing its Senate majority. The President has tied the debate to building his promised wall along the Mexican border.

The idea of bringing Irving back is just as unappealing to Cleveland.

The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor speculated that the Cavaliers may use the status of Thomas' hip to request another pick from the Celtics.

Now, Wojnarowski is reporting that after undergoing the physical that is necessary with all trades and acquisitions made in the National Basketball Association, the Cavaliers are continuing to evaluate the hip injury while "weighing options" that could possibly void the deal. James lead the Cavaliers to the finals in each of the three seasons since his return, which repaired his relationship with Cleveland fans who still felt resentment over the 2010 "Decision". He played with a heavy heart and lifted the Celtics to the championship round. A three-team trade that sent Donatas Motiejunas to the Detroit Pistons was rendered void after the Lithuanian big man failed a physical because of his injured back a year ago.

All that anyone can be sure about is this deal isn't done yet. The trade now could involve additional compensation for Irving, and maybe more draft picks, according to ESPN.

The speculation is that if this were to happen, the Cavs would want another of Boston's draft picks in place of Thomas. After acquiring Green in February of 2011, he underwent season-ending heart surgery in December of 2012.

At the time of the trade early in the week, the Cavs were excited with the first-round pick.
