Red-hot Matsuyama keeps rolling with 64 at PGA

Lahiri said the firmness and speed of the new greens at Quail Hollow has been perplexing.

You can't particularly blame him. The 27-year-old Denmark native collected four wins on the European Tour.

McIlroy was carded a one-over-par 72 Friday and is 10 strokes behind tournament leader Kevin Kisner heading into the weekend. Only the guy playing it was four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, and he was doing it Friday in the second round of the PGA Championship.

"I feel like the last two months, I feel like I've been playing very well without getting any really results", Olesen said.

Matsuyama fired a 61 last Sunday to win the World Golf Championships event in Akron, calling it probably the best round of his career. It suits my eye. That means he has lots of ground to make up.

Fowler, meanwhile, was satisfied to work his way into contention after a triple-bogey early in the first round.

At one point Friday, Fowler went over to talk to National Basketball Association star Andre Iguodola - who was following the group that included both Fowler and Rory McIlroy - while waiting to hit a shot.

It was disaster from there.

Fox's 66 was the low round of the tournament till that point, and comprised four birdies on the front nine and a further two, plus a lone bogey on the par-four 11th, on the inward nine.

I'm going to let Spieth answer this question, since he did so following his opening round: "I've got to make up ground". With a closing birdie for the second straight day, though this time it was on 18th, Lahiri finished the first two days with 72 and 73 and safely made the weekend action.

England's Paul Casey and 10th-ranked American Rickie Fowler, whose first career PGA triumph was at Quail Hollow, were among seven on 69, Fowler thanks to six birdies that helped offset a triple bogey seven at the fifth hole. "The only option I had", he said. "Hitting fairways are key. That's rub of the green for you", he said.

"I'm probably not playing as well as I did at the end of previous year", Matsuyama said. This win could have a big impact on golf globally, as he would become the first Japanese major championship victor in golf history. "And the thing is, they are only going to get faster and firmer". "I just need to continue to do what we've been doing".

"I'm probably not playing as well as I did at the end of past year".

"I was grateful for the rain delay because I was getting exhausted".
