Glen Campbell and Willie Nelson lamented how time slips away

Singer Glen Campbell dies at age 81

Singer-guitarist Glen Campbell, the "Rhinestone Cowboy" who went on a farewell tour to play hits such as "Wichita Lineman" and "Gentle on My Mind" before Alzheimer's disease robbed him of talents, died on Tuesday at the age of 81.

Her first single, "Remembering", is a poignant tribute to her father and will be featured on her debut album. That's when the film, "Glen Campbell...." That was full six years before Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson released their country chart-topping version of the song and adopted its name for their ongoing collaboration the Highwaymen. We talked about the "American Idol" victor that year, Kris Allen, because he is from Campbell's home state of Arkansas.

Brad Paisley: "Thank you @GlenCampbell for the artistry, grace & class you brought to country music". As always, Campbell and his cohorts managed to create unforgettable music without ever overshadowing the sound of the artists they were backing. Jackson heard the news from Campbell's daughter, his goddaughter.

"One of his favorite songs was "Try A Little Kindness" in which he sings "shine your light on everyone you see.' My God". Part of the reason was to see some old architecture with which I was starting to become enamored, but it was also a chance to hear some handsome old music by Mr. Campbell.

Webb wrote that even though his friend's death had been expected since being diagnosed with the disease in 2011, it still "stings like a sudden catastrophe".

He was later acquitted of all charges in a criminal case that became a widely publicized phenomenon in American culture. And for those of you rooting for Simpson's parole, there's good news-they say the event in question never happened.

"Extremely sad to hear that Glen Campbell has passed away". I watched him in awe executing his flawless rendition of "The William Tell Overture" on his classical guitar in his Vegas show. "As a role model, singing guitar player he was a big influence on me", Urban wrote.

Further underscoring Glen Campbell's dedication as an entertainer, Jimmy Webb paid tribute to his friend by calling him a "majestically grateful and kind, top rate performer", even on his worst nights on stage. The "Goodbye Tour", which pushed into 2012, was the subject of the James Keach documentary "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me", released in 2014 - the same year Campbell moved into an Alzheimer's treatment facility, after listing his Malibu home for sale the previous year.

Campbell experienced a resurgence in popularity in the late seventies and early eighties, which included the insanely catchy "Rhinestone Cowboy".

"I didn't go to Nashville because Nashville at that time seemed one-dimensional to me", Campbell told the AP.

I continued to enjoy hearing the Glen Campbell songs I liked on the radio over the years, and also followed the unfortunate and occasional headlines about his arrests for alcohol- or drug-related incidents.
