Grass-roots action protesting plans to "repeal and replace" the Affordable Care Act continued to spread as June ended, despite the Republican-controlled Congress's inability to pass new punitive legislation.

Medicaid (in Minnesota it is called Medical Assistance or M.A.) is the federal health insurance plan for this country's neediest: those with disabilities, the elderly, children, the poor and the sick. But that actually adds up to the vast majority of the people that they claim are going to lose their coverage.

In addition to withholding appropriations included in the law, the Republican governors in 19 states, including Florida, refused to implement Medicaid expansion. That's about 20 percent of the state's population, Dayton said.

Kentucky's gross state product would be $3.28 billion less under the Senate bill in 2026 than under the Affordable Care Act, the study estimated.

Gandhi also said: "Unlike demonetisation, GST is a reform that Congress has championed and backed from the beginning". GST, which replaces a slew of indirect taxes with a unified tax, is set to dramatically reshape the country's economy.

He and Ellison, who represents Minneapolis, urged Minnesotans to speak out against the bill. The debt ceiling will need to be raised, and Ryan and McConnell are aching to get to work on tax reform legislation. But the House's plan was counted out for a while, too, and then it was resuscitated - with the help of every single Republican Congressperson in Missouri - and passed very quickly. The five Democrats voted against it. That changed under the ACA, because the law specifically prohibited insurance companies from discriminating against anyone with a pre-existing condition. "We've got the insurance markets imploding all over the country, including in this state". That Act would radically restructure Medicaid.

The proposal stands to be a flashpoint for Senate Republicans when they return from their July 4th break and try to revive the Obamacare repeal bill.

The latest estimate on how the Senate bill would affect employment was from the Commonwealth Fund and George Washington University. "If we want to preserve ACA and even extend it and make it better, it's time to raise your voice and to understand that we are right". And if we pass our bill they say several states will discontinue the Medicaid they already have in place", he said."But they can't tell you what states. We have a real opportunity to help the American people and I'm optimistic that we can find a solution that addresses the failings of our current health care system.

People caught up in a crisis of opioid addiction, especially felt in greater Minnesota, rely on federal money for treatment, Piper said.
