With the 4th of July approaching Mayor Rose, the Murray Fire Department, and the Murray Police Department wanted to remind everyone to have a fun, but safe, holiday. While the nearby Kalispel Tribe Reservation previously allowed the sale of fireworks, it has joined the Colville Tribe in banning them, according to a tribal employee. Some communities including the City of Brighton enacted an ordinance limiting it to those days. To the novice, fireworks can be unsafe, even in ways people may not realize. Complaints range from dogs barking, people who can't sleep due to neighbors shooting fireworks and everything in between. Injuries from the intense heat of fireworks typically harm the eyes, head, hands, arms or legs.

From sparklers to smoke bombs and bigger payloads, the Fourth of July is the peak of fireworks season - but it can also be one of the most risky holidays around. He'll be inspecting professional fireworks displays around the state and warning consumers about the dangers of setting off their own fireworks.
