The Cavs will have to figure how to reduce their errors to turn their fortunes around.

Oddsmakers have the Warriors favored to dethrone Cleveland as the Cavaliers did to them a year ago, but the snub gives the Cavs something else to prove.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James (23) grabs a rebound against Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry (30) during the first half of Game 1 of basketball's NBA Finals in Oakland, Calif., Thursday, June 1, 2017. We're only gonna do it together, that's just our whole mindset. "So it's more or less a heart thing, a prideful thing".

Kyrie Irving, who hit the deciding three-pointer last June as the Cavaliers won Cleveland's first major team title in 52 years, scored 24 points on 10-of-22 shooting.

Asked after the game if there was one thing that stood out for the Warriors - their speed or anything else - Cavs star Lebron James answered with two letters. Heading into the Finals, James admitted as much, "We're a better Cavaliers team and they're a better Warriors team".

"A lot of us have been through both sides of a championship run and a Finals", Curry said.

The Warriors and Cavaliers are meeting in their third consecutive Finals, a matchup many predicted when the season began after Golden State signed Durant in a blockbuster move. It was precisely this one-two punch of Durant and Curry that the Warriors management had dreamt of when they went after Durant in the 2016 offseason. So, they're playing good basketball. The Warriors will attempt to defend home court once more when they host the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Finals on Sunday.

"We were victims of ourselves, for one", he said.

"There were certain points where they were getting hands on balls, deflections, and being first to the 50-50 balls".

"And adding some of the pieces we have added definitely helps". "Going to be punch, counterpunch".

Golden State knows never to get complacent. It's about how you answer that.
