A strong field, an unpredictable course at Players

The countdown continues to the Players Championship exclusively live on Sky Sports The Players

Based in the heart of the practice range at TPC Sawgrass and situated right next to the main presenting spot, the studio saw plenty of players stop by to discuss their game ahead of golf's unofficial "fifth major".

THE PLAYERS Championship is often referred to as the "fifth major" because it always has one of the best fields on Tour, has the biggest purse of any non-major, and the victor gets some great benefits, including a five-year PGA Tour exemption.

"There's a lot of history behind this golf course with regards to the champions that have played here".

The field includes newly-married Rory McIlroy, world No1 Dustin Johnson, defending champion Day, Fowler, Phil Mickelson, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, in-form Adam Hadwin, Branden Grace, Louis Oosthuizen, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Daniel Berger - in other words, a who's who of the world's best golfers. Putting the 2017 M2 Driver and M2 Tour Fairway Woods in his bag. He followed that with a T6 the next year by shooting 9-under for the tournament, followed by another T8 at 8-under in 2015, followed finally by his T12 at 7-under last year. Notorious hole 17 will stand out in infamy to most as the green stands alone surrounded by water. We can't wait to see! That being said, players still need to be able to manage the holes well because they still are holes that surrender lots of birdies. Notes: No one has ever won back-to-back at The Players Championship since it began in 1974.

But the former PGA Championship victor has not been at his best so far this year with just four top-25 finishes in eight events.

Telling reporters this week, "It's my most favourite golf course in the U.S". "That has led to some really good finishes".

Klopp believes he can work magic on German star
Saints laboured to a goalless draw against Hull last time out and must now sharpen up their attacking play at Liverpool on Sunday. Can has played a key role in Liverpool's success this season, scoring five goals including winners against Burnley and Watford .

But the current world number three feels ready to start pushing for the top once again.

"I think it's a great temperament to have, and it's something I'm envious that I didn't have that [as World No. 1]", Jordan Spieth said. It was Johnson's first start since having to withdraw from the Masters with a back injury.

Dustin Johnson hits from the second tee during the first round of The Players Championship golf tournament Thursday, May 11, 2017, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He finished 6 at TPC Sawgrass in 2014, and there's a story to root for: He's coming back to play after being diagnosed with Lyme disease. "Earlier on in my career, I had to come to terms with that, and come to terms with hitting the ball in the same positions as everyone else off the tee and then trying to beat them from there".

"I still don't feel like I'm halfway there to achieving what I want to achieve".

The Real Star of The Players....

This event is most famous for the world-renowned 17th hole, a short par three to an island green that makes even the best around quake in their boots, especially when it is windy.

"It's just a hard tournament to win".

Surrounded by water on three sides with spectators lining the outer edges, this is the weekend's make or break hole. Clark's victory was a surprise, but proved that you don't have to be a big hitter to win at Sawgrass. Or as Luke Donald once put it, "It's do-or-die". In these uncertain times, with network TV golf ratings dropping, it is a powerful statement that FedEx is making a long-term commitment to the game. "We have a commitment to see if we can get better there, and when and if we come up with something we'll certainly share it ... but let's be clear that it's something that has our attention".
