Capitals rally past Penguins in Game 5 to avoid elimination

Reports indicate the Pittsburgh Penguins' captain will play in Game 5 against the Washington Capitals, along with Conor Sheary.

“Thats just what we need in these tight games, ” said Andre Burakovsky, who scored the tying goal in the first period and had another good game after replacing Ovechkin as the top-line left winger.

Coach Barry Trotz stuck with the lineup he used in Game 5 with Alex Ovechkin on the third line, Burakovsky on the first, and Karl Alzner as the seventh defenseman.

Ovechkin was moved to the third line and Burakovsky was moved to the first line.

Braden Holtby, Capitals - The Vezina Trophy finalist stopped 20 shots, including 12 saves in third period, to get the win for the Caps. As the Capitals in front of him closer resembled the Penguins in their collective confidence, Holtby breathed easier and began to do his part to match Marc-Andre Fleury's efforts as a goaltender. The Washington Capitals stay alive for the moment and Game 6 is on Monday Night in Pittsburgh.

"We're going to have to be better", Oshie said. One, they block everything, so it's hard to get a puck through if you're just kind of getting it and firing it. The problem is that with how many shots they bleed every game it doesn't allow Fleury to have an off night.

"I think there's just a little bit more resolve, a little bit more belief that we can do it, a little more conviction in our game when we get backed into a corner". With his assist, Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby tied Mario Lemieux's franchise playoff record of 96 assists.

In a quirky twist, the Capitals often have cited a failure to compete for all 60 minutes as a reason for their three losses in the second-round series.

"It's awesome", Washington left winger Andre Burakovsky said.

Wizards handle Celtics to tie series at 2-2
Thanks to 34 points off turnovers, the series is even with the Cleveland Cavaliers waiting in the Eastern Conference final. Unlike their previous playoff match-up against the Chicago Bulls, the Celtics won their first two games at TD Garden.

Earlier in his career, it was fair to question whether Letang was a strong enough defender to be considered among the best of the best, but he ended any debate last spring by playing 28:53 per game and scoring 15 points in 23 postseason games en route to winning his second Cup.

Coach Mike Sullivan said "there's a possibility" that the famed trio would be put together in Game 6, and why not? Nashville will play the Blues at 3:00PM, and the Oilers will face the Ducks at 7:00PM. The most the Penguins could hope for was some momentum to carry into Game 7.

The Pittsburgh Penguins look for a big victory here to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time in five years. Trailing 2-1 after two periods, he made two hard saves on Pittsburgh's Nick Bonino.

The top two lines have been great for Washington in the playoffs.

"I think, having gone through this, I'd like to think I'm pretty aware of my body at this point". This means that Jake Guentzel, who is tied for the league scoring lead with eight goals so far, was shifted back to play on Evgeni Malkin's wing.

Kuznetsov left out the part in which he would score, too, on a shot with no angle, a shot that saved the Capitals' season for at least one more game.

With the series on the line and both teams looking for their finest performance of the post-season, expect both bench bosses to flex their strategic muscle. "I can't even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday", he said, "and you're asking me what happened previous year".

"I trust them and I trust the process that you have to go through and whenever it's time, I'll be ready", Crosby said.
