Texas A&M's Garrett taken in first round of NFL Draft

Myles Garrett makes Tarrant County, A&M history as No. 1 overall

NOTES: New York Jets first-round pick Jamal Adams' father, George, was a first-round pick in 1985 (19th overall, N.Y. Giants).

The second thing binding them together is they are not quarterbacks.

Choosing to ignore quarterback in the first round again, the Browns chose defensive end Myles Garrett from Texas A&M with the first pick on April 27 and then, after trading down with Houston for the 25th pick, they drafted safety Jabrill Peppers from MI. Ranked No. 1 in the draft by ESPN, Garrett brings size, athleticism and explosiveness to the defensive end position - something the Browns woefully needed. If Cleveland decides a trade isn't possible, Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer, California's Davis Webb, Tennessee's Josh Dobbs and Pittsburgh's Nate Peterman - among others - are still available in the 2017 National Football League draft. And after passing in the first round on three quarterbacks, including Clemson star Deshaun Watson, the Browns addressed their endless search for a franchise QB by picking Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer.

The Browns added versatile defensive back Jabrill Peppers from MI (25th pick), and Miami tight end David Njoku (29th) to their number one selection of Garrett. Meanwhile, despite missing out this position in their picks, the Browns concluded their trade by securing Miami tight end David Njoku. They own their own first round pick and now the Texans' first rounder.

"I want to be the best", Garrett said. We have a long way to go to get our roster where it needs to be.

While the Browns' selection of Garrett was expected as of late Thursday afternoon, the draft took a turn for the unexpected after that.

Despite rumors the Cleveland Browns might draft North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the top choice, they followed the script by selecting Garrett on Thursday night.

Madrid and Atletico try to leave rivalry aside in CL semis
With Sime Vrsaljko already out, centre-half Gimenez was filling in at right-back for Juanfran when he was injured. Atletico Madrid: Oblak; Hernandez, Godín, Savić, Filipe Luis; Niguez, Koke, Gabi, Carrasco; Griezmann, Gameiro.

Pretty lofty, right? Well, one of Garrett's goals last season was to be the top overall pick. "We are very confident in the information that we gathered".

Garrett's going to have to help corral some opposing running backs, too. But, I think the Browns are not done on the trade front with all the top talent now falling in the draft.

As Hue Jackson described it, the Browns felt like they were on the clock from the moment the 2016 season came to a close.

"They're going to get more than 200 percent effort out of me", Peppers said on a conference call. I've put good film out there for that moment. He joins a Browns defence undergoing a major makeover. The Broncos outside linebacker, who made 33 sacks in his four-year A&M career, has 73.5 career sacks in the NFL.

As a redshirt sophomore last season, Peppers was deployed as new defensive coordinator Don Brown's viper - a linebacker/safety hybrid that can play in the box, get into the backfield and also drop back in coverage. We want to perpetually be getting better.

Peppers tested for a diluted urine sample at the Combine.
