In the meantime, Meals on Wheels is dealing with another shortfall. Those block grant programs are the Community Services Block Grant and Community Development Block Grant.

The impact of cuts is unknown at this time.

"This is to Meals on Wheels America to support our national efforts".

Several Watsonville City Council members are slated to make deliveries on Friday.

Ezell says they are happy to see the volunteers on a regular basis, even though it is for very short visits.

"I believe our community will support us. They don't have nothing to go to or look forward to", said Hunter. "We're feeding between forty and fifty people every day - seven days a week", Patrick said. "And because we didn't really have a hearing, we didn't really process it".

To qualify for the Meals on Wheels service, Patrick said, recipients must be at least 60 years old and homebound. He said if the program loses federal grants at a rate proportional to proposed department cuts, the local chapter would have to adjust its budget. "We get a larger percentage from our budget from the federal government", Winstead said.

Summey said he has admired Chandler's community work.

GOP Guvs Oppose House Health Care Bill, Offer Their Own Proposals
The House Freedom Caucus posted to Twitter to indicate they still opposes the Republican replacement bill in its current form. At some point, Obamacare risks plunging into what insurance experts call a "death spiral".

"There is no reduction in the program", Headland said. "We can't just come here and sit here, you know?"

Luckily, the budget cut has received considerable criticism and plenty backlash from other governmental authorities on both the democratic and republican side. It must still pass muster with USA lawmakers, many of whom have expressed doubt about it. That number would increase dramatically if the president's budget plans are approved.

Financial officer for Caddo Council on Aging, Monica Wright says, "it has brought more awareness to the program". Without it, she added, "they're going to go hungry".

The senior center conducts background checks on all volunteers, and they must have a valid driver's license.

The Aiken Area Council on Aging served more than 77,200 meals a year ago according to Sharon Cowden, Home Delivery Coordinator and Case Manager. Elderly people who don't have enough to eat end up in the emergency room or nursing homes. But it was re-referred to the committee last week and given a "do pass" recommendation with the amendment, proposed by Rep. Craig Headland, R-Montpelier, the committee's chairman.

The senior meals program in Augusta is part of the CSRA Area Agency on Aging.

The exact amount of the cut is unknown, but budget director Mick Mulvaney says the government "can't spend money on programs just because they sound good".

Warren County's program serves residents of Warren and Hamilton counties.
