Blizzard finally unveil Overwatch's newest tank hero, Orisa

Jeff Kaplan took the opportunity to reveal the new hero in his latest developer update.

Meanwhile, Orisa's protective barrier allows her to shield allies from damage. Packing 200 ammo, with no fall-off range, it fires four more rounds per second than Bastion's submachine gun, though the projectiles travel ever-so slightly slower. She's a new tank character with defensive measures, buffs and debuffs, and a long-range cannon. In order to supplement its Tank abilities, Orisa has Fortify, which boosts endurance.

"And while her barrier isn't quite as durable as someone like Reinhardt's, she's able to perform other duties while it's deployed", reads a post on Blizzard's Overwatch website. With her Fortify ability, Orisa will momentarily gain immunity to effects that move her like to Reinhardt's Charge or Pharah's Concussive Blast. Also check out our screenshots of all of Orisa's skins. The goal was to introduce a new lower mobility tank who could serve in a protection role for the rest of her team. Fortunately, we won't have to wait to see how Orisa plays as she is already available on the game's PTR servers.

Where Orisa is expected to shine is as a protective anchor on the team. Do you think Orisa will fit right into the Overwatch team?

She is now being held, and a judge will determine if she must return to Argentina. Still, the detention of Vargas took many, including her attorney, by surprise.

Orisa was designed by the Overwatch development team as a tank that will function similar to Reinhardt, in that teammates will look to position themselves around her, compared to tanks that look to disrupt enemy teams such as D.Va and Winston.

Though she's only a month old and still learning about the world, Orisa is a powerful combatant with a lot of cool abilities.

Described as a robot tank, Orisa's large body can serve as a flawless shield for her teammates, Destructoid reported. The Supercharger can be destroyed by the enemy though, so where it's placed will be crucial to optimal use. Her alternate fire, Halt!, launches a graviton charge across the map, slowing nearby enemies as it passes, then pulling them toward it when it detonates. You can get a better idea of Orisa's backstory in the video above.
